The Big Three O: 15 Things You Need To Do Before Your 30s

Life is full of adventures. Life is too short to be trapped in one house and live your entire life there. Your 20s is a decade meant for exploring – there’s no room for settling. Explore your likes and dislikes; have fun, rise, shine, fall, learn different things, stay out of your comfort zone, and make every day count.

That’s what living a life is all about. As the saying goes, age is just a number; so never restrict yourself from doing the things you hope, want and wish to do. Try to tick all the things on your bucket list before it’s too late.

Here are the bucket-list entries you should make (and keep) before hitting 30

Travel Solo

Travel as much as you can before “The Big Three O”. Traveling in any group with friends or family is enjoyable but try to travel solo as much as you can. Life is full of adventures and travel will take you closer to that. It’ll force you to stay out of your comfort zone and do all the things by yourself. On your journey of solo travel, you will find ‘you’!

Prioritize your mental health

Invest in your body. Adulting can be damn hard – it’s daunting. So make both your mental and physical health a priority. This is one of the best investments you can ever make for yourself. Exercise, meditate, work out, and make your health your priority. All this is important to live a healthy lifestyle.

Read Books

Books shape you as a person. So read as much as you can. It doesn’t matter if you are not an avid reader; just read what you love, be it fiction, non-fiction or anything that interests you and/or catches your attention. Reading and writing is an exercise. It relieves your mind and body. You get to learn so much about people, the world, psychology, and so much more.

Make your Parents Your Priority

All those phone calls, messages, family functions. Make sure you make time with them and spend it with all love and affection. They may be there for the next 20, 30 or 40 years if you’re lucky. Just never take them for granted.

Accept and Love Yourself

Accept your flaws and imperfections. Love your body, skin, and appearance. Have a one-on-one conversation with yourself. Loving yourself provides you with self-confidence, self-worth, and in general, you feel more positive. If you can learn to love yourself, you will feel happier and will learn to take better care of yourself. Note that no love is greater than the love you have for yourself.

Learn a New Language

At Least once in a lifetime, learn any new different language that you’re fond of. It will help you in person. It improves problem-solving skills and enhances memory. Learning new languages also improves you professionally, which is an added advantage.

Live by Yourself

We spend most of our life with others or for others. But, at least for once in a lifetime, live by yourself. This will strengthen your relationship with yourself. Living by yourself alone can help you find the time to work on your most important relationship – the one you have with yourself.

Meditate

This practice isn’t specifically age-related. The earlier you learn the power of meditation, the more benefits it’ll provide. Mastering meditation is one such practice that everyone should learn and practice daily. It’s deeply rewarding.

Invest

Honestly, money is not everything, but it is very important – especially as it helps us to achieve most of our dreams and goals. So to do this, learn to invest as early as possible. Invest in your 20s and 30s and you’ll have great wealth by the time you reach your 50s all because of compounding. It’s the kind of financial security that everyone can and must have to live the life that you want to live.

Befriend a Variety of People

By being friends with like-minded people, you can have a circle that possesses different types of mindsets and perspectives. It’ll be good if you diversify your friendships. This will give you a fresh and new perspective, you’ll make deep bonding with others and achieve happiness in the comfort of others.

Have at least One Relationship

When you are living fully, then why not experience love and the heartbreaks that come with it. Make romantic relationships to understand what you need and how you want love to be. It makes you understand what you need in love and how you want to be treated. But try to make positive and healthy relationships. Step back from toxic relationships. Experiencing breakups and hook-ups makes life more worthwhile.

Create an Emergency Fund

Emergencies can strike at any time, anywhere, and without warning. And the good news is that situations can be tackled by creating an emergency fund. Creating an emergency fund provides you with a safety net when times get tough.

Master a Skill

The 20s are the time when we can’t settle for anything. But one key to success in life is the ability of delayed gratification. Yes, you want to do what is cool, you want to make money fast, you want to be the guy who knows everything, but you will suffer if you do that in your 20s. Instead, stick to something, never dabble, opt for mastery.

Learn to Say “No”

Saying no to something is an art and a much-needed skill nowadays. We all feel it hard to say “no” at times because we don’t want to be the person who upsets or disappoints another. But saying “no, that’s not good for my mental health” is necessary. It’s said that saying “no” to someone is better than saying “yes” to something that’s not good for you. It helps to resolve many issues such as confusion, guilt, attachments, and most importantly, it saves a lot of time.

Do Something that Scares You

Try to be out of your comfort zone. Do those things that you are afraid of. Fear is something that we all experience but responding to it is what matters. So to let go of that fear, make a list of things that you’re scared of and take the courage to do it anyway. It’ll help you grow to a whole different level and make you fearless.

Above all, live every moment. Do not overthink. Do note we will never be as young as we are at this moment. So make the best out of it.
