BTS got a clean sweep of all major awards at the 2019 Melon Music Awards on Saturday night at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul, South Korea. Winning the Best Artist of the Year, Best Record of the Year, Best Album of the Year and Best Song of the Year daesang awards along with others, BTS left the award show with eight awards in total.

Smaller Awards BTS and Family Won
Along with major awards, BTS also walked away with awards like Netizen’s Favorite Artist and Kakao Hot Star. Pdogg, the notable writer of many BTS songs, also won the Best Songwriter award.
BTS wasn’t the only act from BigHit Entertainment who walked home with an award, as TXT’s four-single 2019 campaign earned them the Best New Artist (Male) award. The female award went to JYP Entertainment’s ITZY. Both groups performed at the award show as well.
MMA’s Top 10 Artists Named
The Top 10 Artists were named as BTS, Jannabi, MAMAMOO, Heize, EXO, Bolbbalgan4, Jang Beom-June, Chungha, MC the Max and Taeyeon. Repeating winners are Bolbbalgan4, BTS, MAMAMOO and EXO. Notably departing from the award was TWICE, who held the award for three years straight. This was EXO’s seventh consecutive year.
Male soloist and rookie Kang Daniel walked away with an award for Best Music Video. He also performed his hit songs “What are you up to” and “TOUCHIN’” at the show.
Female soloist Chungha won the Best Dance (Female) award for “Gotta Go,” while BTS won the male award for “Boy With Luv.”
SEVENTEEN won the Stage of the Year award, as The Boyz got the 1theK Performance Award.
Non-K-pop Awards
Best OST award went to Gummy for “Remember Me,” which was featured in K-drama “Hotel del Luna.” Taeyeon walked away with the Best Ballad award for her recording of “Four Seasons.”
Epik High won an award for their first single release since leaving YG Entertainment titled “LOVEDRUNK,” winning the Best Rap/Hip-Hop award.
Best Trot went to Hong Jin young’s “Love Tonight.” This was the fifth year in a row that she has won the award, including one year when her collaboration with Kim Young Chul got her the win.
Heize’s song “We don’t talk together” won her the Best R&B/Soul award. That song, along with “Falling Leaves are Beautiful” were performed at the event.
The Best Indie award was given to MeloMance for the third year in a row, this time for the song “You&I.” The Folk/Blue award was discontinued this year.
N.Flying won their first Best Rock award for their song “Rooftop,” which they performed later on in the show along with “GOOD BAM.”
In the only non-Korean-music winner of the night, Billie Eilish’s song “Bad Guy” earned her the Best Pop award.
Notable Performances
As expected, BTS had an extensive setlist at the awards. The group performed big songs like “Boy With Luv,” “Mikrokosmos,” “Intro: Persona.” An epic version of “Dionysus” was played which included dozens of onstage characters, huge props, and horses.
Chungha trended online quite a bit after the MMAs because of her performance of “Gotta Go” and “Snapping.”
Jannabi performed two songs at the show, including 2019 title track “For Lovers Who Hesitate.”
Non-award winners who performed were Giriboy, AB6IX and Hwasa (although she won an award through her group MAMAMOO).
Big groups that were not present at the 2019 MMAs were TWICE and BLACKPINK. TWICE played a concert in Aichi, Japan that same night.
