Top 10 League of Legends Skin Lines

The world of League of Legends is a wide and vast ocean of possibilities. Anything could happen. From champions to pro-players, fans of this beloved game all have things they are proud of. If there’s one area that players associate with fun, it has to be the cosmetic skin department.

Top 10 League of Legends Skin Lines

1. Project

Drawing inspiration from the Metal Gear Solid series, the Project skin line has enormously grown into a fan favorite within the League community. As it all started with Yasuo, Project skins had humble beginnings and has grown into a titan of fandom. Sleek, cybernetic, daunting and powerful, the Project series follows a post-apocalyptic world where two rising factions of warriors are competing for survival. While one embraces technology, especially the power of the Project series, another group opposes control and embodies free will.

2. Pool Party

Summer is, without a doubt, one of the best seasons for gaming. And what better way to capitalize on the season than summer-themed skins? With its chic bathing suits, sunglasses and drinks, a decent-sized group of champions are members of the Pool Party theme. While badass characters are greatly admired, it is refreshing to see them take a breather now and then. Members include Caitlyn, Dr. Mundo, Renekton and Draven. And we can all agree that Pool Party Zoe is one the cutest skins ever made.

3. Bloodmoon

Definitely one of the more popular skin lines in the game. The thematic design and lore of the Bloodmoon resonates so well with fans. Based on Japanese noh theaters with a special twist on demons, the Bloodmoon skin line has a cult following. Many Ionian champions such as Jhin, Shen, Akali and Kennen are members of the Bloodmoon cult.

4. Arcade/Battle Boss

Nostalgia at its finest. Visually speaking, the Arcade skin line is one of the best. With pixelated pirates duking it out to get the highest score, members of the Arcade skin line include Miss Fortune, Ezreal, Ahri, Riven and Hecarim.  However, with heroes, there always come villains. The Battle Boss skin line is the antithesis to the Arcade skin line. Existing only to rain on the parades of the heroes are members such as Veigar, Malzahar and Blitzcrank. Both Arcade and Battle Boss harken back to an era where Sega Genesis and Atari reigned supreme.

5. Cosmic/Dark Star

Up to the heavens, across the stars, spiraling down a quasar, we meet more skin lines immersed in rivalries. Denizens of light, and forged in starfire, the Cosmic heroes dancing around the nothingness of space. Members such as Master Yi, Kassadin, Xin Zhao and Ashe fill the void of emptiness with light and warmth. However, where there is light, there is darkness. Monsters of the shadows and those who create destruction, members of the Dark Star skin line are darkness incarnate. Entities like Thresh, Kha’Zix, Orianna and Varus scour the universe in search of death. Pray they ignore your world.

6. Odyssey

The newest skin line with League of Legends, Odyssey has already made its mark within the community. A more brash take on outer space heroes (crew members of the ship, the Morning Star) the thematic design is essentially League’s own version of Guardians of the Galaxy. Jinx the Pilot, Yasuo the captain, Sona the seer, Malphite the muscle, and Ziggs the newcomer… You cannot script a better crew. Being a member of the Odyssey skin line is a privilege. Oh yeah, and Kayn is their arch nemesis. Kayn wants to take over the universe and destroy the members of the Morning Star. You know, typical villain stuff.

7. Victorious

Refined, elegant, illustrious and valiant. Victorious skins are luxury within the community. Exquisitely adorned with luminous armor, members of the Victorious skin line are warriors. It is worth noting that while only seven Victorious skins exist currently, players who manage to achieve gold tier or above in competitive play are awarded a Victorious skin for free. Victorious skins are chosen by Riot for the champion who is most impactful that competitive season. Members include Jarvan IV, Janna, Elise, Morgana, Sivir, Maokai and Graves. Only time will tell who the next member will be.

8. High Noon

Rough, tough and ready to draw, members of the High Noon skin line do not joke around. Members such as Jhin, Lucian and Yasuo have sharpshooting skills, and even sharper personalities. Think of these skins like cowboys on steroids. Shoot first, ask questions later. Western/cowboy themes are extremely resonant in this skin line. Special shoutouts are in order High Noon for giving Urgot his first skin since… forever.

9. SKT T1

World champions in 2013, 2015 and 2016, SKT T1 from South Korea will go down in history as one of the great teams to ever play the game. They reinvented ways of thinking about the game, and as a result, how the community plays. Much like Victorious, the SKT T1 skins are chic, stunning and amazing to use. Striking colors of red, black, gold and blue, the SKT T1 skin line will be one of the few to be considered timeless.

10. Warring Kingdoms

Last but not least is Warring Kingdoms. Combining the Chinese New Year and an exotic twist on ancient Chinese culture, this skin line is here to stay. From Garen to Katarina, Azir to Vi, and Nidalee to Xin Zhao, the Warring Kingdoms takes “faction rivalry” to the next level. With wonderful visual effects and awesome lore, Warring Kingdoms will be a staple for years to come.

  1. Where’s Star Guardian? They should at least rank #5, the community adores them with all the fan art, cosplay, and even first official lore on a skin line, not to mention LOL keeps making more and more skins for the theme like the recent Pajama Skins.
