With summer just around the corner, it’s that time of year where everyone is relaxing, going to the beach, taking vacations and having fun. Most importantly, summer will be an exciting time for Pokémon GO players! Global events, community days and raids galore will be happening. Mark your calendars trainers, because this summer is jam-packed with exciting events.
Pokémon GO: Upcoming Events and Predictions
Upcoming Events:
Pokémon GO Fest: Chicago and Dortmund
Two major events are occurring this summer: Pokémon GO Fest in Chicago and Dortmund. Located in the Midwest, the booming metropolis of Chicago will offer many exciting adventures to trainers. Skyscrapers, parks, landmarks; there are many things to do in the big city. Halfway across the globe, Dortmund is located in Germany. While not many details have been released as to what kind of Pokémon you will encounter, it will be amazing regardless. We can expect a select group of Pokémon as usual, perhaps Unknown and one or two regional exclusive Pokémon. Regional exclusives like Torkoal, Tropius, or Relicanth would be choice picks for Chicago. As for Dortmund, Pokémon such as Carnivine, Chatot, or Heracross would be great to see.
Torchic Community Day
The second Hoenn starter will be available in spawns all over: Torchic! This cute, fiery chick is ready to be caught by players everywhere! For those who aren’t Pokémon savvy, Community Day is a special day within a limited time event where a certain species of Pokémon will spawn in huge numbers. For the month of May, it is Torchic! And, as an added bonus, Torchic Community Day will grant three-hour lure modules at Pokéstops, three-times stardust when you catch a Pokémon, and a chance to encounter a shiny Torchic.
Following suit from previous Community Days, the evolved form of Torchic, Blaziken, will know an exclusive move if you evolve it during the event. As confirmed by Niantic, the exclusive move will be Blast Burn. As another bonus, Blaziken will get access to a new charge move, Blaze Kick. This move will be available after Community Day and is obtainable from Charge TMs. Blaziken is already a well-rounded Fighting-type Pokémon. So with a move like Blast Burn, it might move up the ranks amongst Entei and Moltres as a top tier Fire-type Pokémon.

Community Day Predictions:
Ralts
Ralts first appeared in the Hoenn Region, but both of its evolutions have garnered a loyal fan base. The elegant Gardevoir commands both Psychic and Fairy powers and has seen a decent amount of usage in the competitive scene. However, players can also choose to evolve their Ralts into the savage Psychic and Fighting attacker, Gallade. Both Pokémon received Mega-Evolutions during Generation 6, in games Pokémon: X and Y and Pokémon: Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Both Gardevoir and Gallade perform well as offensive attackers. Hopefully, Ralts Community Day will happen this summer.
Sinnoh Starters
Three new starters introduced us to Pokémon: Diamond and Pearl: Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup. Expect these three will show up later this year. To be more expected, their evolved forms, Torterra, Infernape, and Empoleon, will gain the powerful charge moves that the other starters have received: Frenzy Plant, Blast Burn, and Hydro Cannon. All three are decent attackers as of now, but their new moves could move them up in the ranks of PVE attackers.
Gible
Gible makes sense since Garchomp is the next pseudo-legendary in line. This cute, yet feisty, Dragon-type would make an excellent choice for Community Day. Gible also evolves into one of the best designed and strongest Pokémon ever: Garchomp. The signature Pokémon of the Sinnoh Champion Cynthia and a competitive powerhouse, Garchomp is a fan-favorite within the Pokémon community. It will most likely excel as both a Ground-type and Dragon-type attacker.
Riolu
Like Garchomp, this one was also introduced in the Sinnoh region and evolved into another fan favorite. Lucario had the limelight during the mid-2000s with his own movie, Pokémon: Lucario and the Mystery of Mew. Lucario is a dual Fighting and Steel-type Pokémon and has access to a plethora of moves in its arsenal. With an exclusive move, it can rise through the ranks of either Fighting or Steel-types. To top it off, shiny Lucario looks amazing.
The Last Word on Upcoming Pokémon Events
Torchic Community Day will be a blast. We have two GO Fest events to look forward to on two different continents. We should also expect even more fun Community Days in the following months. Prepare your sunscreen and summer clothes, everyone! 2019 is starting to become more interesting and more fun for Pokémon GO!
