BLACKPINK To Have World Tour in 2019

Recent Live Show Announcements

Earlier this week, YG Entertainment tweeted that BLACKPINK will be doing a world tour in 2019, heading to North America, Europe and Australia.

The announcement is vague but shows that the company has enough confidence in the tour happening to announce it to the public. Back on January 2nd, the fanbase for the group, who are referred to as “BLINKS,” were surprised at the announcement of BLACKPINK being announced for both Fridays of the 2019 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. The same night will also see names like Childish Gambino, The 1975 and Jaden Smith take the stage.

Current Tour

BLACKPINK is currently on tour throughout Asia, heading to Jakarta, Hong Kong, Manila, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Taipei in the coming weeks. The group has already put on a couple of shows in Seoul and Bangkok. The group has been selling out most of the shows so far.

BLACKPINK Recent Activity

BLACKPINK isn’t known for its extensive discography, but instead, has a track record of producing consistent hits. The group had a monster year with the release of the song “DDU-DU DDU-DU,” winning 11 music shows. The popularity of the group cannot be understated, as a member of the group Lisa broke a record earlier this week, being the most followed female celebrity in Korea. The accounts for each BLACKPINK member were only created in 2018. The group also saw a collaboration with English pop artist Dua Lipa on the song “Kiss and Make Up.” Besides the group’s work as a team of four, Jennie from the group has gotten some extra shine recently from her solo debut appropriately titled “SOLO.”

Other Big Groups Also Visiting North America

North American K-pop fans have already been promised big names for the start of the year. Fellow YG Entertainment group WINNER will start their North American leg of the “WINNER EVERYWHERE Tour” on Wednesday in Seattle. The group will go through the top cities in America and take a trip to Toronto. The tour wraps up at the end of the month.

Top SM Entertainment girl group Red Velvet will be touring the United States and Canada. After completing the Asian leg of the “REDMARE” tour, the group will come to North America in February, performing eight shows in total. Red Velvet has made appearances in the US recently, hosting their own Chicago Fanmeet back in April, and having an appearance at KCON NY back in June.

Last Word on BLACKPINK

BLACKPINK will test their worldwide strength in 2019 when they head to many continents for shows. While we don’t know anything about the time, date or venue for the official tour, we know that the group will be performing at one of the most prolific music festivals.
