5 Entertainment Events That You Absolutely Must Put In Your 2020 Calendar

Planning your 2020 calendar? The events listed below are a mix of sports and entertainment, so even amateur fans will be on the edge of their seats. Here are a few events you must see in 2020.

World Series of Poker

Perhaps the biggest poker event of 2020 is the World Series of Poker.

Last year’s winner was Hossein Ensan, who netted himself a staggering $10 million and, of course, the iconic WSOP bracelet to go with it.

This year’s event looks set to be the biggest yet, with pundits claiming a whopping 9000 entries (based on a year-on-year increase of 300 players each event). There’ll also be a new $10K buy-in in the online no-limit hold’em game, plus nine High Roller events, including the $250K Super High Roller.

WSOP is just one event that poker fans need to know. Check out this calendar from OnlineCasinos.co.uk for a full list of all the stellar poker tournaments on in 2020.

Tokyo Olympics

The Olympics are back again. Four years ago they were held in Brazil’s sunny Rio de Janeiro, but this time they’re headed East to Japan.

Taking place from July 24th to August 9th, the Tokyo Olympics will feature an impressive 33 different sports. As well as classics such as diving, equestrian, and track & field, we can also expect to see surfing, table tennis, and Greco-Roman wrestling.

Japan is renowned the world over for its rich and vibrant culture, and the opening ceremony is sure to be a spectacular piece. Last event’s closing ceremony featured Mario himself, so we wait with bated breath to see what July holds for us.

Masters Tournament

2020 sees the 84th arrival of the golf Masters Tournament (and the first of the sports’ four major championships of the year). This year, the event will be held in Augusta, Georgia, taking place between 9th and 12th April.

Last year’s winner was Tiger Woods in what was his fifth Masters title and his 15th major (after a staggering 11-year wait between his last major win). But what about this year’s event? The favorites for 2020 are currently Woods, naturally, plus Northern Irish Roy McIlroy and American Brooks Koepka.

It’s worth noting that we haven’t seen a repeat winner of the tournament since Tiger Woods managed it in 2002. Could this be Woods’ year again, or will McIlroy and Koepka give them a run for his money? Only time will tell.

Formula One World Championship

Want high octane thrills, high speeds, and high-spec cars? Between March and November, you’ll want to tune into Formula One. British driver Lewis Hamilton holds the current title, and with an impressive six titles under his belt, it looks like he’s definitely in to win it this year.

Unless, that is, 22-year-old Charles Leclerc can pull it out of the bag. His first season with Ferrari was particularly noteworthy, and some pundits point to the Monaco native as a likely challenger to Lewis’s throne.

This year’s event will span Asia, North America, and Europe, featuring drivers from dozens of different countries. If you have a need for speed, you’d do well to keep an eye out for this event in 2020.

Kentucky Derby

One of the oldest horse races in the world (second only to the Travers Stakes), the Kentucky Derby is also known as “The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports” due to its intense but short nature. Like Formula One but on horses, this event is a must-see.

Last year’s winner was Country House, after a shock race replay revealed that Maximum Security might have impeded War of Will in the race to the finish line. But a win by disqualification is still a win, and Country House was named the victor.

Predictions for 2020’s Kentucky Derby are mixed. While the final lineup hasn’t been announced, many horses have qualified and potential contenders for the race include Anneau d’Or (30-1), Max Player (20-1), and Tiz the Law (8-1).

Whether you’re a diehard sports fan or just an amateur, the events above are a mix of riveting sports and electric entertainment that are sure to keep you hooked. Which events are you most looking forward to in 2020?
