Health and Fitness Guide for the Busy Entrepreneur

Being an entrepreneur is not an easy task. One has to put a lot of attention, hard work, and effort into building that startup that health becomes secondary — which is not good. Health shouldn’t be ignored at all costs. No doubt, an entrepreneur’s life is loaded with stress, tons of work, long working hours, management, and it’s tough to make time for fitness. The biggest asset one can have is their health.

Did you know that successful big startup owners share the same blueprint to their success? Entrepreneurs like Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and Gary Vee focus and prioritize their health first before anything else. Surprisingly enough, all of them have the same routine in their schedules — wake up early, begin the day with exercise, work on themselves, then spend the rest of the day on work.

Keeping that in mind, here is a simple guide specially designed for entrepreneurs and business owners followed by many renowned names!

Establish a healthy routine

The first and foremost step before starting with any health guide is to build healthy routines that are simple, effective and convenient. One quality that every entrepreneur or budding startup owner should have is the ability to set boundaries. Since it’s hard to maintain a good work-life balance, setting boundaries is the key — not just for entrepreneurs, but for everyone, in general.

Try this simple routine: wake up an hour earlier than usual and make enough time for exercise before you get on with your day. Start your day with lemon water and a nutritious breakfast. Stay hydrated throughout the day, and eat a healthy lunch and dinner. And lastly, go to sleep at a reasonable hour.[wpdiscuz-feedback id=”y7ar3kqeo3″ question=”How many hours of sleep do you need to function “well” at work?” opened=”0″][/wpdiscuz-feedback]

Make a healthy meal plan

After establishing a routine that you are comfortable following, you should plan a nutritious diet that is loaded with proteins and minerals. We all know the saying “You are what you eat”. It has been proven that our diet plays a crucial role for both our physical and mental well-being.

Before focusing on adding more healthy foods, eliminate all sorts of junk, sugary foods and drinks. To be more effective in your work, focus more on proteins and carbs. It is much better to have a body equipped with whole grains, fruits, and vegetables for it fosters the mind and the body. Fizzy drinks and fast food, however, do more harm than good.

Exercise and Meditate

Prioritizing exercise and meditation is one key factor most successful entrepreneurs utilize. Working out and mediation is important to have a sharp mind — much needed for an entrepreneur. It also helps keeps the mental state active. As exercise can release endorphins, making you feel good and relieves stress, it can also be beneficial for entrepreneurs to use to boost their creativity.

Since working long hours on projects can lead to a slump in creativity, exercising can be an effective way to think up innovative solutions. You may want to consider meditating to help you focus and perform better not only in your workout sessions but also with your daily life chores. Start with spending just 5 minutes to yourself and just close your eyes for a moment. Feel your breath and clear your mind. Meditation can be a life-changing habit if practiced with consistency, so try to add it to your daily routine.

Have enough sleep

Sleep is one of the most ignored parts of a life of an entrepreneur — even though it’s an important aspect to the day! So, make sure to have the required amount of sound sleep. Most experts recommend that we get 6 to 10 hours of sleep per night. Forbes reported that the most successful entrepreneurs get between five and eight hours of sleep. Successful entrepreneurship goes hand in hand with healthy lifestyle habits, so make sure to have the right balance between both.

Turn off your phone and computer at least an hour before bed, and avoid vigorous exercise late in the evening. Implementing these measures will help you wind down when it’s time for sleep. Rather than worrying about when sleep takes place, concentrate on whether you are getting the right amount of sleep to meet your needs.

Socialize

It is said that being social can save you as an entrepreneur. Thus, try to be as social and fun-loving as possible. Socializing has a strong influence on both mind and body. It relieves stress and anxiety issues, making you more confident. Stay away from technology and actually talk to people, as much as you can.

Initiate interaction with strangers and try to make genuine conversations. Figure out what people are passionate about, ask follow-up questions, share about yourself, or just have frequent small interactions. Socializing not only staves off feelings of loneliness, but also helps sharpen memory, and increases your sense of happiness and well-being.

Living a Healthy Entrepreneur Life

There is no doubt that entrepreneurs have unpredictable working hours and lives. But neglecting health and well-being is not a good option. Moreover, entrepreneur success is more focused and reflected into their energy thus, having a healthy lifestyle is important for growth and success. Great article. For me, going to sleep at a reasonable hour is so difficult but when I do, I’m so much more productive.

For me, I need more sleep. There’s a huge difference when I’ve slept 7 hours. It’s my sweet spot.

  3. As for exercise, I highly recommend trying swimming. Swimming is a very beneficial option for both mental and physical states. It strengthens the muscles of the whole body, relaxes, and relieves stress. So, by doing this, you can kill two birds with one stone.

  4. This is an amazing article; I’m in the process of starting a writing/blogging business of my own and it’s a lot of hard work. I find it difficult to maintain a healthy lifestyle while trying to get my career off the ground. I found this article to be extremely helpful. Thank you for your input.
