Must-See Shows Coming to Our Screens in 2024
Must-See Shows Coming in 2024: You Season 5
2024 is set to be a memorable year for Netflix, with plenty of shows and movies lined up for the new year. One of the streaming giants’ most memorable shows was the fan-favorite drama “You,” which will present its fifth and final season in 2024.
The final season will see Joe (Penn Badgley) continue his murderous streak one last time. We can expect to see his number of victims rise, with his latest love interest, Kate, surely in the firing line. The final instalment will see Joe back in New York after wreaking havoc in London under the pseudonym – Professor Jonathan Moore.
Wednesday Season 2
Wednesday was a phenomenon when it dropped on Netflix in 2022, with Tim Burton behind the camera and Jenna Ortega excelling in the lead role, assisted brilliantly by “Thing.” The ending of season one left plenty of questions, despite the outing of Marilyn Thornhill as the infamous Laurel Gates.
Ortega, when on the Jimmy Fallon Show, said regarding season 2: “I think we want to up the horror aspect a little bit and then get Wednesday out of the romantic situation and just let her be her own individual and fight her own crime.” Season 2 of this brilliant show will likely air around October 2024.
Welcome to Derry
Due to the SAG-AFTRA strikes, Welcome to Derry was delayed and will be released – in 2024 exclusively on HBO Max. The fascinating prequel series will explore the origin stories of Pennywise. Stephen King never wrote a prequel to the original – so this HBO series will be a brand new plot set in the 1960s.
Pennywise is a clown that feeds on fear and eats children, making him a terrifying figure in the Stephen King classic IT. In the prequel, we will discover why he becomes a clown, with the rest of his past shrouded in mystery. The cast still has roles to be confirmed, but Madeleine Stowe, Stephen Rider and Chris Chalk are all set to appear.
True Detective Season 4
True Detective began in style with Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey in season one. The fourth season will be in Alaska, with Jodie Foster starring as a detective hunting a serial killer. The setting sounds perfect for a serial killer series, with blood-soaked snow and plenty of hiding places.
Alongside Jodie Foster playing Detective Liz Danvers, newcomer Kali Reiss will play the role of Foster’s partner, Detective Evangeline Navarro. Christopher Eccleston will play a police officer called Ted Corsaro. The latest season will be released on January 14, 2024 – with six episodes, launching on HBO and Max.
The Walking Dead: ‘The Ones Who Live‘
Everyone’s favorite post-apocalyptic couple will return to our screens in 2024 – in the latest spin-off from The Walking Dead, titled: “The Ones Who Live.” The latest offering from TWD universe will hit our screens in February next year, showing on both AMC and AMC+.
Described as a “prestige miniseries” by Danai Gurira, we will witness the return of Rick Grimes, the original fan favorite from season one. He will be joined by Gurira, who will reprise her role as our favorite katana-wielding zombie slayer. We will undoubtedly meet some new memorable villains. The presence of Scott M. Gimple will be music to the ears of The Walking Dead fans as Gimple has been present with the production staff since its start in 2011.
