NCT 127 song “Kick It” Earns First Music Show Win As BTS and ITZY Add To Collection

“Kick It,” the single from the new NCT 127 full-length album NCT #127 Neo Zone got on the board for music show wins on Friday, winning the March 27th episode of “Music Bank” against BTS single “ON.” Also this week, ITZY and BTS continued to build to their collections of wins. Let’s look at a recap of K-pop music shows from this week.

The Past Week of K-pop Music Shows

3/24 SBS MTV The Show: Sejeong – Plant

Starting off the week, Gugudan’s Sejeong scored her first music show win for her single “Plant.” The relaxing ballad was performed as a comeback stage, with the soloist standing on a square platform above the usual music show stage. “Plant” comes off of identically-titled EP, featuring four other songs that came out on March 17th.

This show also featured comebacks from Jung Dong Ha, Kisum and EVERGLOW. Returning artists on the show were AleXa, DONGKIZ, Dreamcatcher, FAVORITE, Hong Eunki, and Lee Ye Joon.

3/25 MBC Show Champion: ITZY – WANNABE


ITZY got their first of four music show wins this week starting on Wednesday, with a win on MBC’s “Show Champion.” The group had previously won the week before on “M! Countdown” and on “Inkigayo.”

BLACK6IX, Chu Hwa Jeong and Steady had comeback stages on this show, as well as Kisum, who appeared the day before on “The Show.” The returning artists included AboutU, AleXa, DAYDREAM, DONGKIZ, Dreamcatcher, FAVORITE, Hong Eunki, IVONE & TERA, and Sejeong. Boy band D.COY had a debut stage with the song “Color Magic.”

3/26 Mnet M! Countdown – ITZY – WANNABE

On Thursday, ITZY won again with “WANNABE.” They performed on the show, however, it was not a comeback stage as their promotional tour began last week on “M! Countdown.” ITZY outscored NCT 127’s “Kick It” to win the show.

The show featured comebacks from Hong Eunki, Jung Dong Ha, K-TIGERS ZERO, Kang Daniel, Kisum, ONEUS, Ong Seong Wu and Sejeong. Kang Go Eun had a debut stage as well.

ASTRO performed the song “One & Only” in one of the two “Studio M” stages, an upscale presentation put on by the broadcast. Kwon Soonkwan’s performance of “To You” was also shown.

3/27 KBS Music Bank: NCT 127 – Kick it

Friday saw NCT 127 earn their first win for “Kick It,” which was also performed on the show. The single was released three weeks ago. The song was paired against “ON” from BTS to win the show.

The album comes off of NCT #127 Neo Zone and seen Western success, peaking at number five on the Billboard 200 charts. Down this week by 42 spots, the album now sits at 47, parallel to Travis Scott projects JACKBOYS and ASTROWORLD.

The previous project by NCT 127 was mini-album We Are Superhuman, spearheaded by single “Superhuman.” In-between the time of that release and “Kick It,” 127 members Taeyong and Mark recorded for the debut album of SuperM.

There were fewer comebacks on “Music Bank,” with only performances from K-TIGERS ZERO, Kang Daniel, Kisum, ONEUS, and Ong Seong Wu.

Other performances on the show were from AboutU, AleXa, DONGKIZ, Dreamcatcher, ELRIS, Hong Eunki, ITZY, MCND, Sejeong, VICTON, and Yezi.

3/28 MBC Show! Music Core: BTS – ON

The long-lasting ripple effect of BTS’ February release MAP OF THE SOUL: 7 stands, as the group achieved their fifth consecutive win of “Show! Music Core” for single “ON.” This makes it their 16th win in total. Here’s a breakdown of the other wins. Three come from “Show Champion,” one from “M! Countdown,” four from “Music Bank,” and three are from “Inkigayo.”

“ON” competed against ITZY’s “WANNABE” and ZICO’s “Any song,” which has done a good job at staying on the charts as well.

BTS did not appear on this show, as they stopped promoting on music shows a few weeks ago. Making comebacks on this episode of “Music Core” were ONEUS, Ong Seong Wu, Kang Daniel, K-TIGERS ZERo, Riaa, and U-Hee. Other acts including AboutU, Dreamcatcher, DONGKIZ, MCND, NCT 127, Sejeong and VICTON.

3/29 SBS Inkigayo: ITZY – WANNABE

Finishing off the week in music shows, ITZY picked up a win on “Inkigayo,” beating NCT 127 and BTS. ITZY finished the week with five wins for their title track coming off of mini-album IT’z ME.

BLACK6IX, Kang Daniel, ONEUS, and Ong Seong Wu provided comeback stages. AboutU, AleXa, DONGKIZ, Dreamcatcher, ELRIS, ITZY, MCND, NCT 127, Sejeong, VICTON, and Yezi also performed on the show. Kang Go Eun had her second debut stage of the week.
