At the beginning of 2023, Netflix announced Cobra Kai would be renewed for a sixth and final season. News has now broken that following the end of the 2023 WGA writers’ strike, the Valley’s best Dojos will welcome us back. I don’t know about you, but I’m excited to see what this final season has in store for us.
Cobra Kai Season Six Renewed
The Final Season
The strike officially ended on September 27 – following an agreement between the WGA and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. Following the agreement, many TV shows have renewed filming. The official X account of the show sent fans a message: “A message to the most badass fans out there: We’re thrilled to be back in production, filming the biggest, baddest and final season of Cobra Kai! See you in the dojo.”
Josh Heald, John Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg, who all write and executive produce the smash hit show released a joint statement that read: “The upcoming Season Six will mark the conclusion of ‘Cobra Kai.’ While this may be a bittersweet day for the fandom, the Miyagiverse has never been stronger. This fandom is the BEST on the planet and we hope to be telling more ‘Karate Kid’ stories with you down the line. Because as we all know, Cobra Kai Never Dies.”
Background of the Show
Ralph Macchio and William Zabka from the original Karate Kid have helped ensure the success of this series by helping blend the necessary nostalgia with the new up-and-coming stars on the show. The show is set 30 years after the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament and follows the eternal conflict between Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence, which is at its entertaining best.
You can watch the first five seasons on Netflix as we all wait for the official release date for season six.
